Ban Private Money
● Congress Regulates Candidate’s Political Expenditures
● Special Interest Influence Reduced
● Voting Becomes Primary Influence on Elections
The monetary influence over our elected officials in today’s elections is unparallel to anything in American history. The incredible amount of money needed places the importance of running for office on collecting contributions over the importance of competing ideologies.
In order to prevent minority factions from externally controlling our government and placing the sole external influence back in the hands of the American voters, Reform Our Republic proposes the banning of private contributions, from all sources, in federal elections. In replace of private contributions, funds will be needed by the federal treasury.
“All private contributions to political campaigns for federal office are prohibited; all political campaign funds for federal office must derive from their respective state treasury.”
This simple sentence would eliminate any possibility of minority factions from contributing money into any federal election and place the burden of publicly funding elections on Congress.
